Road accidents claim three lives
Three people have been killed on Northern Ireland’s roads over the weekend.
Two teenage girls were killed in a car crash in County Down early on Sunday morning.
Tammy Towers, 16, from Clagan Park, Dundonald, and Laura Ross, from Castlehill Park, Comber, 15, were backseat passengers in a Vauxhall Nova which hit a telegraph pole at Bradshaw’s Brae near Newtownards. Police said the two girls died at the scene.
Three young men, all in their 20s, who were also in the car were cut from the wreckage by the fire service and are being treated in hospital for their injuries. One is in intensive care while the other two are described as in a serious but stable condition.
Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man has been killed in a road accident in County Antrim. He was a passenger in a red Audi, which left the Collin Road outside Ballyclare around 5pm on Sunday. Three other people who were in the car were taken to hospital. No other vehicle was involved. (AMcE)
