Mivan Contracts Win Praise

A Co Antrim-based firm that operates within the construction and marine refurbishment sectors and employs over 300 people in Northern Ireland and Britain has been in focus today.

Invest Northern Ireland has been working closely with the company providing support, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, towards new product development, training and trade support.

Visiting the company, Arlene Foster said: "Mivan has enjoyed considerable success despite difficult conditions in the construction sector. The company's strong export focus has enabled it to build a solid reputation outside Northern Ireland. As a result, Mivan is performing well across a number of market sectors.

Ivan McCabrey, Chief Executive of Mivan commented: "We have continued to proactively pursue new global market opportunities and as a result have secured £30million of new business over the last six months.

"Our focus on innovation and new product development has helped to give us an advantage over the competition. Assistance from Invest NI has recently helped Mivan to create Mivan Modular - a panellised, steel and timber product which we are currently targeting at the commercial office sector in London."

Also commenting, local Ulster Unionist MLA, Danny Kinahan expressing his delight and added: "It is such great news to see local expertise driving the world economies as construction inevitably does.
