Enniskillen Gets Environmental Fillip

The Lakeland County is to get a funding boost with news that the NI Social Development Minister Alex Attwood has just announced a £19,000 funding boost for environmental improvements in Enniskillen.

The funding, from his Department's Neighbourhood Renewal Investment fund, will help upgrade boundary fencing within the Kilmacormick Housing estate to improve security for residents and the appearance of the area.

With a total value of more than £22,000, the project will commence in early 2011, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.

Alex Attwood (pictured) said: "This is good news for the Enniskillen Neighbourhood Renewal Area. The improvements will provide a safer, more attractive environment for local residents.

"In the current economic climate, the funding represents a significant contribution towards the retention of jobs in the construction industry," he said.

Acknowledging the contribution from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and the good work being carried out by the Enniskillen Neighbourhood Partnership the Minister went on to say: "This announcement is a further demonstration of my Department's commitment to work in partnership with other Government Departments and Agencies to improve the quality of life for people living in this area of Enniskillen Neighbourhood Renewal Area."
