Japanese Firm Announces Galway Jobs
A Japanese medical devices firm in Galway has announced 115 jobs are to be created as part of a new investment.
Goodman Medical Ireland said it will begin recruiting for manufacturing positions straight away.
The company already employs 56 people in the manufacture of cardiology products and over the next five years, 115 more jobs will be added as part of a €1.1m investment.
They include new positions in research and development.
The Galway plant will also become the sales and marketing centre for the Goodman Group across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Enterprise Minister Batt O'Keeffe said the investment consolidated Ireland's reputation as a leading location for foreign direct investment.
Goodman President, Takehito Yogo, said that long-term demand for the company's products had led to these expansion plans. He said Galway was chosen because of its highly educated workforce.
