North West region receives international attention

Delegates from the province’s construction and IT sectors have recently met with representatives from European purchasing companies in an event designed to promote the investment potential of the North West region.

The initiative - entitled Network 2001 – was held in the Radisson Roe Park Hotel in Limavady, and was organised by the Workspace Enterprise Agency, in partnership with the Roe Valley Enterprise Agency and the Donegal County Enterprise Board.

John Hume, MP, officially launched the event, and welcomed all the international visitors to the region, as well as the delegates from both North and South of Ireland. He went on to express his belief in the “bright” future for the future economic fortunes of the North West.

William McCarter, Chairman of the International Fund for Ireland, one of the main backers of the event, later added that he was delighted with the attendance at Network 2001. He said: “The companies exhibiting at Network 2001 have been able to meet with at least ten companies without actually leaving the North West. By offering one to one meetings, local companies are being given a fantastic opportunity to sell their business on the international stage.” (CL)
