Spate of gun attacks in Belfast and Londonderry

A number of people have escaped injury in separate gun attacks in Belfast and Londonderry.

Two masked men, armed with shotguns, forced their way into a house in the Markets area of Belfast in the early hours of Monday morning. A man escaped injury in the attack after a shot was fired through the upstairs bedroom door.

Earlier, a shot was fired into the Clarendon Bar in the docks area of Belfast. A gun was later recovered.

In a separate incident, four youths escaped injury at around tea-time on Sunday when a shot was fired from a passing car in the Fortwilliam area of north Belfast.

In Londonderry, meanwhile, a number of men tried to force their way into a flat in the Waterside area of the city. They fired two shotgun blasts through the door, however the man inside was not injured in the attack, which was described by police as non-sectarian. (MB)
