Rising Lagan Floods Co Down Roads
A number of routes near Moira are closed this morning due to flooding after the Lagan River (pictured) burst its banks.
Yesterday, ferry sailings were being affected by bad weather as high winds and rain swept into NI pushing rivers to near-flood level.
Motorists are being warned today again to take care on the roads after the severe weather brought heavy rain and gale force winds across Northern Ireland. The worst of the bad weather hit Counties Antrim and Down with gales of up to 60 or 70 mph and conditions on some roads described as dangerous with some areas already affected by flooding, as well as by fallen trees and debris.
The Roads Service was dealing with flooding in Belfast too, on the Sydenham bypass near the George Best City Airport and this morning there were also reports of flooding on the Knock Road between the PSNI station and the Braniel estate, and on the Lisburn Road between Bradbury Place and the City Hospital.
Up to 18mm of rain had fallen by yesterday morning and continued heavy rain made many roads impassable.
All ferry crossings between Belfast and Stranraer were cancelled and Roads Service said it was dealing with flooding in various areas with bad flooding on the Banbridge to Castlewellan Road and the Moyallen Road in Banbridge.
In Craigavon, flooding affected Donaghcloney Village, the Manse Road at Moss Bank Road junction and Crowhill Road.

Local roads get record £80m spend
A record £80 million will be spent on structural roads maintenance this year across Northern Ireland. The figure was revealed by Deputy Divisional Roads Manager, Tom McCourt as he presented DRD Roads Service’s autumn report to Newtownabbey Borough Council. Mr McCourt said: "This is a huge increase in investment over previous years.

Icy Stretch Forecast For NI
It appears we're not quite out of the woods just yet as a blanket of ice is set to cover Northern Ireland this week. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning in light of the frosty forecast. It will take affect at 9pm on Wednesday 11 March, continuing until 10am on Thursday.
