Man shot while waiting for lift to work
A man who was waiting for a lift to his place of work in Londonderry has been shot in the hand.
The Catholic man is being treated for a bullet wound to his hand after two masked men drove up in a red Vauxhall Nova car and fired several shots at him. The man was standing outside a bar in Clady village at 7.15am on Friday November 16 waiting for a lift.
The red Vauxhall Nova was later found burnt out at the Gortgole Road, Portglenone.
The police have made an appeal for anyone who has any information about the shooting or saw the car being set alight at the Gortgole Road, to come forward.
The Sinn Fein MP for Mid Ulster, Martin McGuinness, said the attempt to kill the man “bore all the hallmarks of a loyalist murder bid.”
However, so far the police have made no comment on a possible motive for the shooting. (AMcE)
