Children in Need raises a smile
With a huge number of local fundraising events under way, the province will again be gripped with Pudsey fever on Friday as the BBC hold their annual Children in Need appeal.
In Belfast city centre, chart-topping Westlife are due to play to thousands of fans at a special outdoor concert held as part of the charity events held throughout the UK. The Pudsey in the park event will also feature the Corrs, and Children in Need organisers have warned that the all-ticket event was already sold out. So for those with no ticket the only option is to watch the concert on the television.
Traffic disruption was expected in and around Belfast city centre where traffic restrictions are in place on some streets all day on Friday.
Last year 393 projects in Northern Ireland received over £1.7 million in funds raised by the Children in Need appeal which raised around £452,000 in Northern Ireland.
Over all the appeal raised in excess of £20 million for Children in Need across the UK. (SP)
