Jobs Fear At Shannon Aerospace

Staff at an aircraft maintenance firm in Shannon are speculating over the future of their jobs after being called to a meeting with management tomorrow to discuss plans to reorganise the company.

Shannon Aerospace is one of the largest employers in the midwest with more than 700 staff, including trainees.

A spokeswoman for the firm declined to comment on reports today that the firm was planning to seek 180 redundancies.

United Technologies To Create 20 New Posts
United Technologies Corp., a company providing high-technology systems and services to the building and aerospace industries, has announced the addition of 20 new jobs at a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centre in Shannon for its UTC Aerospace Systems business as part of a €6m investment.

Alarm Control 24 Announces 60 New Jobs
Alarm Control 24, based in Dublin, has announced 60 new jobs for Sandyford. The alarm monitoring firm invested €3m in rolling put its new Radio Telemetry Network. Thirty positions will be created in the first two years of Alarm Control 24's expansion, while a further 20-30 jobs are to come from plans for another expansion in 2014.
