Eircom appoint Nolan as Chief Executive
The boards of eircom and Valentia have announced the appointment of Dr Philip Nolan as Chief Executive Officer of eircom.
Dr. Nolan has been appointed to succeed Alfie Kane and will take up his position on January 2, 2002.
Welcoming the appointment of Dr Nolan, the Chairman of eircom and Valentia, Sir Anthony O’Reilly, said: “On behalf of the boards of eircom and Valentia, I am delighted that Philip Nolan has taken up our offer of appointment as Chief Executive of eircom. Philip has a wealth of world-class experience in the provision of a range of utility services, which includes experience in the telecommunications sector. His international knowledge, gained within a regulated environment, will now be made available in Ireland to eircom’s customers and employees. His appointment marks an important first step towards meeting the objectives I have consistently set in relation to our pursuit of excellence in the Irish telecommunications industry”.
Dr Nolan has spent much of his business career outside Ireland. He took up his current position of chief executive, Lattice Group, following the demerger of the Lattice Group from BG Group in October 2000.
Born in Enniskillen, Dr Nolan graduated from Queens University, Belfast with a BSc and a PhD in Geology. He also holds an MBA from the London Business School. (CD)
