Jobs Boost 'Essential' Says Bank
A bank's support has proved to be the fillip needed for new jobs and a cool development of an NI business.
Bank of Ireland is celebrating the cool success of the 3,000th customer to sign up for its Essentials for Business package.
Biddy Bo Treaterie, which is the first HB Swirl It Express ice cream franchise in Northern Ireland, is the 3,000th customer to benefit from the small business package since its launch in April 2008.
Bank of Ireland's support has helped to fund the fit-out of the new Dungannon-based Treaterie, which has also created seven new jobs in the area.
It is the first HB Swirl It franchise in Northern Ireland, and has filled a gap in its local market for a confectionery and ice cream shop.
Essentials for Business is Bank of Ireland's package for small businesses and start-ups, specifically designed to support the growth of the sector in Northern Ireland.
Biddy Bo Treaterie is owned by Energy First Ltd where Director, Conor Mallon, said: "We were very impressed with the help and support offered by Bank of Ireland in helping us to get this new venture off the ground.
"They were very approachable from the outset and willing to engage us in dialogue to consider the banking options that would best suit our business model."
Paul Slevin, Commercial Manager, Bank of Ireland Northern Ireland, said: "Many businesses still perceive credit as unobtainable.
"At Bank of Ireland, we understand that small businesses are the lifeblood of the local economy and support from the banks is key to helping them grow.
"There has been incredible demand for the Essentials for Business package from both new and established small businesses over the past two years, with over 100 businesses signing up each month since it was launched in the marketplace."
Essentials for Business includes free current account banking for two years and unsecured or secured loans, plus the support of a number of partners who are experts in areas vital to small businesses such as employment law, website development, telecommunications, accounting software and insurance.
