Suspected Brothels Raided In Belfast

Police have raided a number of properties in Belfast that are suspected of being used as brothels.

According to reports, a small number of people have been arrested and a number of people, believed to be victims of human trafficking, have been rescued.

The raids were carried out by the PSNI as part of a major operation involving other police forces across the UK, called Operation Apsis.

A total of 15 properties across the UK were raided as part of the operation.

Drugs seized during police raids
Police in Newtownabbey have seized cannabis and drug paraphernalia during a planned search operation in the Rathcoole Estate on the outskirts of north Belfast. The raids were part of the Newtownabbey Community Responsive Campaign against drug use in the area, carried out under the 'Misuse of Drugs act.

Sinn Fein offices raided in 'anti-terrorism' operation
Sinn Fein's assembly offices in Stormont have been raided this morning and the head of their Stormont administration team has been arrested following a police operation. The police have said that the raids, which involved up to 200 officers and began at 5am, form part of investigations into republican terrorist activity and intelligence gathering.

NI Men Held Over Fuel Laundering
Two men from NI have been arrested in Monaghan on suspicion of running a fuel laundering plant. Irish Revenue officers and Gardaí raided the operation at commercial premises in Glaslough last night. The two men who where arrested at the scene, one aged 33 the other aged 34, are both from Northern Ireland.

SF predicts election support from a 'small number' of unionists
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has claimed that a small number of pro-agreement unionists will give his party a preference vote during this Wednesday's Assembly Elections. Mr Adams was speaking on his return to the election trail following the death of his father last week.

L'Derry Properties Raided In Lyra McKee Murder Probe
Police have carried out a number of searches in L'Derry this morning as part of the investigation into the murder of Lyra McKee. A number of items were seized and taken for further examination, however no arrests were made. Ms McKee was shot dead in Creggan on Thursday 18 April during a night of dissident republican rioting.
