IFA Resignations Cause Chaos

The Irish Football Association (IFA) has confirmed that it received resignations from four members of the Executive Board - President, Raymond Kennedy, Vice President, David Martin, Honorary Treasurer, Neil Jardine and Board member Jim Shaw.

That meant that the IFA was therefore unable to operate without the appropriate number of members.

As a result, Mr Kennedy agreed to reconsider with an IFA statement released on Tuesday night saying that he will resign as President and as an Executive Board member next month instead.

"Following legal advice, and as the Board of the Irish FA cannot operate without the appropriate number of members, Raymond Kennedy has been asked to remain on the Board until the Council meeting in September, when his resignation will be offered to the Council and he will step aside as President of the Irish FA and from his position on the Executive Board," said the IFA statement.

The Irish FA Council will meet on 6 September to determine the process to be followed for the election of Office Bearers at the September Council meeting.
