Plug Pulled On Donegal Call Centre

Donegal jobs are on the line with news that the Keith Prowse call centre in Lisfannon, Buncrana is to close with the loss of 50 full-time and 50 part-time jobs.

The group's Chief Executive Paul Burns said that the call centre, which handles ticket sales for entertainment events, would officially close its doors on Sunday.

He said: "The company has suspended trading for the moment pending possible restructure. We are waiting for the appointment of the administrators."

The company opened its customer support centre in Donegal in 2002.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O'Keefe's office has commented on the bad news with a spokesman noting that the Minister "has been in contact with the Donegal Regional Office of the IDA and has asked them to explore the possibility of selling or leasing the building to another investor".

He has also asked FÁS to take immediate steps to give the necessary employment-assistance interventions.
