Belfast may host 2003 MTV awards

A host of international pop stars could be descending on Belfast for the MTV Europe awards in 2003.

Belfast is one of just two cities left in the bidding to host the MTV Awards ceremony, which attracts a worldwide TV audience of more than a billion people.

Final bids for the 2003 event take place in eight days time and the organisers will decide next month whether to opt for Belfast or Glasgow.

John Walker Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Events Company, which is part of a consortium behind the bid, confirmed that if chosen, the event would take place at the Odyssey Centre. (AMcE)
