Good News On Jobs For Dublin
The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, has announced a global firm has announced it is to provide 70 high-tech in the Dublin area.
ServiceSource is an international technology-based company serving high-tech, healthcare and life science sectors. Minister Batt O'Keeffe announced today the company is to expand its Dublin headquarters serving the European, Middle-East and Asian markets.
The expansion will mean 70 new highly skilled positions, bringing the workforce in the Sandyford-based firm to 380 and recruitment is to begin immediately.
The investment is supported by the Government through IDA Ireland. The new jobs will be in human resources, training, information technology, and operations for ServiceSource EMEA clients, who include Microsoft, Adobe, Symantec, AT&T and GE Healthcare.
Announcing the jobs today, Minister O'Keeffe said the firm's expansion plan was a strong signal that confidence is returning to the economy and major investors are now planning for the recovery.
"Since establishing its Irish operation in 2005, ServiceSource has continued to grow and expand. Firms such as ServiceSource are at the forefront of innovation, creating new jobs and services in technologies that make a difference to clients’ bottom line in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.
"The new jobs endorse the Government's focus on innovation and the knowledge economy because our policies are helping to deliver the calibre of graduate major players such as ServiceSource seek to drive their business models."
The executive vice-president and managing director of ServiceSource EMEA, Crosbie Burns, said ServiceSource Dublin has been operating very successfully since it established in 2005.
Also welcoming the announcement, the IDA Ireland Chief Executive, Barry O'Leary, said: "This is terrific news for ServiceSource, a significant multinational company and this development is reinforcement of Ireland's ability to provide a nurturing environment where leading corporations can continue to expand."

Labour Concerned Over Potential Job Losses At INM

Ulster Television To Be Spared Cutbacks
UTV is to be spared from swingeing cuts in newsgathering across the ITV network. News operations at Ulster Television are to be saved from widespread cutbacks - and job losses - by the national broadcaster. Neither UTV, or its Scottish equivalent, STV are to be hit by the £40m cost-savings initiated by ITV.

220 jobs are to be axed at the potash mine in Boulby, near Middlesbrough, Unite the union which has about 800 members at the UK's deepest mine, said this was more disastrous news for the regional economy, following hard on the heels of the announcement by SSI Redcar that it was to axe about 2,200 jobs at Redcar.
