Newtownards man wins Co Down round of plumbing awards
Newtownards-based Cameron McIntyre has won the County Down round of the Britain’s Favourite Plumber awards, designed to recognise the very best individuals working in the plumbing industry.
Organised by the Institute of Plumbing, and supported by a wide range of organisation and companies, the Awards are staged every three years. Those participating must first be nominated by their customers, who complete an initial questionnaire about their services. The information provided is followed up through one-to-one interviews to provide additional detail before determining county winners.
Cameron McIntyre now goes through to the North West area around and, if successful, could then progress to the final – national – judging, the overall winner of which will travel on a holiday for two to Berlin to coincide with the World Plumbing Conference, being held in that city in May 2002.
Hundreds of nominations have been received from right across the UK and Ireland, reflecting the high esteem in which truly professional plumbers are held, and their vital role in ensuring standards are maintained in the interests of health and safety. (CL)
