NIE team win environmental award

Northern Ireland Electricity’s (NIE) environmental services team have become proud winners of a national ‘Environmental Award’ at the Utility Industry Achievement Awards.

The company not only managed to scoop the most sought after Award, but was also short-listed for another two Awards at the Utility Industry ‘Oscars’ presented by actor Stephen Fry.

The judges considered that NIE had made a serious start on developing a comprehensive environmental management system and were particularly impressed by the emphasis on community and educational aspects.

The Utility Industry Achievement Awards highlight the achievements of the electricity, gas, telecoms and water industries, as well as the individuals and companies who have attained the highest standards and done that little bit extra to deliver more for customers, shareholders or fellow employees.
