Microsoft Expansion Leads To 400 Dublin Jobs
A US call centre firm is to create up to 400 jobs in Dublin after an expansion by computing giant Microsoft.
Stream Global Services won a contract with Microsoft to become the European customer service centre for its Xbox 360 games console customers.
Stream currently employs about 300 staff at its Santry offices.
A Stream spokesman said that the contract with Microsoft is expected to generate more than €50m per year in revenue for Stream.
It said that the Dublin office will provide multi-lingual support, offering 16 different languages for the company's European customers.
The company has been providing customer care and technical support services for over twenty-five years. Management said they were looking for people fluent in French, German & Dutch.
The statement said that the initial phase of the implementation will be fully operational in the third quarter of 2010.
Meanwhile, DSG International, the group which owns Curry's, PC World and Dixon electrical goods retail chains plans to create 100 jobs by the end of the year.

Jobs Boost For Londonderry Based Stream
Stream, a software services provider based in Londonderry, are to create 300 jobs in the city. The company with an office in the Ulster Science and Technology Park on Buncrana Road are due to open new premises on the Waterside following the announcement.

Fears are growing for the overall future of one of Londonderry's biggest employers. Stream International called staff together for a major announcement this afternoon. It emerged that 250 workers could lose their jobs if another contract is not found in 90 days.

Stream Global Services in Dublin has announced a major hiring drive in the Dublin area to fill more than 50 permanent and 200 seasonal positions for its facilities in Swords & Santry. Stream operates from these two facilities, which are among the company’s more than 55 contact centres worldwide.
