Pope Accepts Bishops' Retirements
The Vatican has decided to let two top Irish Catholic clergymen retire.
Pope Benedict accepted the resignations of the Bishop of Clogher, Joseph Duffy, and the Auxiliary Bishop of Derry, Francis Lagan.
Rome said that both men offered their resignations as required by the Vatican on turning 75 years of age.
However, the removal of the Bishop of Clogher may be seen as a reaction to the ongoing child abuse scandal that has rocked the church across the whole of Ireland.
In March, Bishop Duffy admitted he knew of abuse allegations against a priest in his diocese in 1989, six years before the cleric was in court.
Bishop Joseph Duffy was told Enniskillen priest Fr John McCabe had abused a young boy in his car.
However, a diocesean spokesman said that Bishop Duffy was "bound to secrecy by the victim's parents".
In 1995, McCabe, who had then left the priesthood, was jailed for 20 months for abusing the boy between 1979 and 1985.
In their defence, the spokesman also said that because of the protocols in place such a situation would "not happen now" and the bishop has said he regrets the matter was not dealt with "in a speedier manner".
The Right Reverend Liam Sean MacDaid is to be the new Bishop of Clogher.

Church of Ireland appoint new bishop of Clogher
The Church of Ireland has elected a new bishop of Clogher during a special meeting held in Dublin. The Very Reverend Michael Jackson, who is currently the Dean of Cork, was appointed on Wednesday November 21 as Bishop of Clogher to succeed Bishop Brian Hannon.

Former Bishop of Derry, Edward Daly, has died, aged 82. According to the Diocese of Derry he died "peacefully" this morning, 08 August. He was pictured waving a blood-stained handkerchief over one of the Bloody Sunday victims in 1972. Dr Daly was born in Belleek, County Fermanagh, in 1933. He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Derry in 1957.

4,000 Homes Without Water
The number of homes affected by disruptions to the water supply has been reduced to about 4,000 from a total of 10,000 over the weekend, NI Water has said. Many customers in the Fermanagh and Tyrone areas were left without water over the weekend, but work taken by NI Water on Sunday evening has reduced the number affected by over half.
