Appeal Follows Bookies Robbery Bid
Detectives are appealing for information about an attempted robbery on the Springfield Road, in west Belfast.
It happened shortly before 6.50pm on Monday when a female member of staff was inside a betting shop which had closed for the day when two males - one armed with a gun - kicked their way through the front door.
However, they fled empty-handed, as the counter area had been locked up.
The males are described as 5'10 in height and had scarves over their faces. One wore a dark coloured hooded jumper and a baseball cap, and the other wore a white hooded jumper.
The incident took place close to the Springfield Road's junction with the Lower Falls Road.
Police seeking witnesses to the incident would like to speak to a customer - described as an older man - who had tried to enter the shop a short time earlier but did not do so as the shop was closed.
Anyone with information should contact detectives by calling 0845 600 8000, alternatively information about crime can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
