Belfast to benefit from hospitality event
The 16th annual IFEX show is being hailed as having “a central role to play” in the promotion of the province’s tourism and service economy.
Taking place at the King’s Hall, Belfast, from 23-25 April, the hosting of Ireland’s largest food and drinks exhibition will bring together over 300 companies from throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.
Speaking at the launch of a promotional campaign to highlight the benefits of attending IFEX, Agriculture Minister Brid Rodgers said that she was “encouraged by the fact this is one of the first major events for the agri-food industry since the foot-and-mouth crisis, and the show offers a welcome showcase for some of the best locally produced and prepared food and drink.”
The Minister went on to reveal details of a major food conference to run alongside IFEX, which will see addresses being given by such leading names in the food industry as Irish independent shopping group executive chairman Feargal Quinn and special advisor to British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Lord Haskins.
The exhibition, which was postponed from last year due to the foot-and-mouth outbreak, is expected to draw over 10,000 visitors to the Belfast event. (CL)
