Cancer Charity Wins CEM Backing
There's a 'high-tech' approach being taken to chairty fund-raising.
A sophisticated Belfast-based frim, CEM Systems and American Dynamics, have teamed up with leading local cancer charity, the Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) in a bid to raise £15,000 to fund the charity's Family Support Service.
Staff from CEM Systems and American Dynamics Belfast, will aim to raise funds through a variety of fundraising activities over the next year.
CEM Systems and American Dynamics are leading access control, video and intrusion brands of Tyco Security Products; a business unit of Tyco International.
Richard Fulton, CEM Systems General Manager, (pictured) said: "We are really looking forward to working with UCF and our staff are very enthusiastic about getting involved in fundraising activities over the next 12 months.
"Unfortunately we have all been affected by cancer or know of someone who has been affected.
"Therefore we chose UCF as our Charity of the Year because as a local charity we know that the money raised will be used to help cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland," said Richard.
Liz Atkinson, Head of Care Services, Ulster Cancer Foundation said: "We are delighted to be working with CEM Systems and American Dynamics in a bid to raise £15,000 to fund our Family support service which helps children, young people and families when a close family member has been diagnosed with cancer.
"We understand that when one member of the family is sick, everyone is affected. Every family is unique and will react to a cancer diagnosis differently.
"Our Family Support Service offers specialist emotional support to the entire family providing them with the opportunity and courage to speak to each other about the disease.
"This can involve individual or group support where they can meet others who are in a similar situation; home, hospital or hospice visits; as well as telephone and email support," she said.
"The money raised over the next 12 months, in partnership with UCF, will be used to extend the breadth and scope of our Family Support Service.
"We will also be investing in additional resources to help families reduce the impact of cancer on family life and minimise the long-term effects on the emotional well-being of the entire family unit."
