Bailey’s Irish Cream investment set for Mallusk

The makers of Baileys Irish Cream are set to build a new plant in Mallusk in a £40 million investment which is likely to create 50 jobs.

The location of the new plant - which will operate in conjunction with the company's existing plant in Dublin - was chosen, as the site would be close to Belfast and near supplies of high quality cream as well as in the proximity to ports.

Simon Litherland, managing director of Baileys Supply Company said sales of Baileys - a mixture of Irish Whiskey and cream - were set to double over the next five years.

South Antrim assembly member Jim Wilson welcomed news of the new facility and said it was an indication of what could be achieved even in difficult economic circumstances. (MB)
