Vodafone users reach 100 million mark
Mobile phone operator Vodafone has announced that its global customer base has reached the 100 million mark.
The company, which has networks in 28 countries, said that the achievement underlined its position as the world’s mobile communications leader.
Last year, Vodafone realigned their growth strategy from general market growth to a more targeted, segmented approach, with the company reporting a stronger than anticipated customer growth rate.
Chief Executive, Sir Christopher Gent, commented: “Vodafone has increased its customer base more than tenfold in the past three years. This has been achieved both through good sustained organic customer growth and through our successful geographic expansion.”
However, the figures pertain to registered users rather than users currently active - meaning people who have been connected to the Vodafone network but who may no longer use their phones have been included in the estimate.
Further details of customer figures and other indicators of Vodafone’s performance for the fourth quarter will be issued on January 29. (CL)
