Suspected Dissidents In Dublin Court

Three men were today due to appear at a sitting of the Special Criminal Court in Dublin in connection with alleged dissident republican activities.

The hearing is related to an on-going operation to counteract the activities of dissident republicans by Gardai in Letterkenny, which initially led to the arrests of five men ranging in age from 40 to 60 years.

Two of the men who were arrested as part of the same operation were released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A sixth man in his 30s, was arrested last night as part of the operation and he is currently detained under the Offences Against The State Act at Letterkenny Garda Station.

Four of the men were arrested in Letterkenny shortly after midnight on Monday and were being detained in Letterkenny and in Milford.

The fifth man was arrested in Buncrana and was being detained at Buncrana Garda Station.
