Winter 'Wear And Tear' Warning

In the wake of the severe winter weather that’s devastated much of the UK, drivers are being warned that icy conditions could have left their cars requiring more than just a good clean.

Corrosion caused by salt and chemicals on the road, pothole damage plus extra wear and tear to moving parts mean that many cars are in need of urgent repair.

To help owners detect hidden damage, Carcraft Service Centres has put together a free Spring Health Check. The check reveals any repairs that need to be carried out on tyres, wheels, exhaust, brakes, batteries, lights and windscreens, as well as checking coolant and anti-freeze levels.

"The extreme weather has created an environment that’s really detrimental to cars," said Joe Conlin, Carcraft Service Centres Manager.

"Whilst salt on the roads is essential to combat poor driving conditions, it can badly corrode car parts if left untreated. What’s more, with the AA reporting a 40% increase in road damage, potholes are the latest threat. Besides harming wheels and tyres, they can badly affect steering too. When that happens, the consequences can be serious indeed."

With local councils expected to fork out millions of pounds in road repair bills, it looks like the pothole problem will be with us for some time to come.

"If you hit a pothole, you can’t always see any damage. So it makes sense to pop into your local Carcraft Service Centre and get checked out for free," continued Mr Conlin. "That way you can be sure that if anything is wrong, you can have it seen to and be safely on your way in next to no time."

With branches throughout the UK, Carcraft Service Centres are on hand to help drivers across the country. Already providing dealership standards at less than fast-fit prices, motorists can be sure of great value should any work need to be carried out.
