Stena Line invests £3m in North Channel ferry refit
Irish Sea ferry company Stena Line have invested £3 million in their flagship Stena HSS Service between Belfast and Stranraer.
During January the Stena Voyager underwent a major refit, designed to bring passengers the most advanced, comfortable and enjoyable service on the Irish Sea.
In doing so, the £3 million refit also provided a substantial boost to the local economy with a number of key Northern Ireland contractors, including MIVAN, MJM Marine, Anchor Flooring and Cimpina, being brought in to help complete the refit.
Paul Grant, Head of Marketing and Sales with Stena Line, said: "As Northern Ireland's biggest ferry company we feel it is important to support the NI economy and where possible to employ local companies to help us achieve our objectives.
"We are constantly looking at new ways in which we can improve the quality of service to our customers. During the last five years the Stena HSS has been a huge favourite with the Northern Ireland public and we hope that this £3 million investment reflects our ongoing efforts to make the best even better."
Stena HSS Services in the meantime have been covered by the Stena Explorer which is due to visit dry dock itself for a refit.
In all, the refitted Stena HSS has an additional 170 seats throughout the craft, which is scheduled to return to service on Wedensday, February 6.
