DETI unveil three-year strategic economic growth plan
The Northern Ireland Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment has revealed how they intend to direct economic policy over the next three years.
The DETI draft corporate plan for 2002-5 unveiled on Tuesday February 5 for public scrutiny details how the department will work alongside the newly established super agency Invest Northern Ireland (INI).
The DETI draft corporate plan sets out the strategic direction for the Department for the next three years and in particular how the work of the Department will support the key objectives of the NI Executive's Programme for Government in securing a competitive economy for Northern Ireland.
This is the first time any department has produced its draft Corporate Plan for consultation.
A DETI spokesperson said: "We want to ensure that all interested parties have the opportunity to contribute and comment on the Department's priorities and planned actions."
The draft tackles a range of issues, including economic growth, tourism, energy, health sand safety, consumer affairs and regulatory services. The draft has as its aim to create a "balanced, competitive, innovative, knowledge based and fast growing economy where there are plentiful opportunities for all."
The draft plan will undergo a two-month consultation process, with interested parties having until April 5 to reply.
