ICS Computing aim to turn paperless office into a reality
Representatives from several local authorities and agencies attended ICS Computing's launch seminar for their document management system, held recently at the Holiday Inn, Belfast.
PriceWaterhouseCoopers estimate that up to 40 per cent of total administrative labour time is actually wasted each year by people searching through masses of paper in order to receive particular documents. So with these statistics in mind ICS Computing, the Belfast-based software solutions company, launched iDoc Imaging. This document management system is aimed at reducing the huge number of hours spent every year trying to find and retrieve documents manually.
ICS pointed out that there are many hidden costs involved in managing, filing and retrieving documents- not to mention the extra costs associated with storing paper based files. The use of iDoc to store electronic documents can substantially reduce these costs.
Director at ICS Computing, Brian Hill said: "Feedback from the seminar suggests there is a great need for this software across all types of market sectors.
"Businesses are often swamped with information- we merely recognised the need to provide a product which could manage this information, making it easier for users to file and retrieve data."
The new software product could prove invaluable to public sector organisations following the UK Government's recent legislation calling for all paper data to be archived electronically by 2005.
ICS claim that the iDoc system, which converts paper documents into electronic images on a computer, can retrieve items in seconds rather than hours.
