First Road Transport Management Diplomas awarded

The first graduates from a new advanced training course have been awarded the FTA Diploma in Road Transport Management after a period of intensive study.

The new scheme, which has been devised by the Freight Transport Association (FTA) is designed to help transport staff already in possession of a Certificate of Professional Competence to expand the range of their management skills.

Delegates who entered the course were provided with a wide range of legislative and operational issues to assimilate, which covered all aspects of transport department operations, which were combined with an essential update of current business concerns. Environmental best practice, business law, vehicle development and managing drivers were some of the subjects that received intensive focus during the course.

Commenting on the first wave of graduations, FTA Head of Training Operations, David Green, said: "The course is designed to give some advanced management information and skills to managers and supervisors who already hold a CPC and are climbing the management tree.

"We have been delighted by the responses of the first students and see the course as providing a vital step in the progress of a transport industry professional."
