Sympathy As Body Recovered From River
Shortly after the police confirmed that a body recovered from a river in Omagh was that of missing local man, Mark Lynch, a local politician has moved to express his sympathy.
SDLP Omagh Councillor Dr Josephine Deehan (pictured) described events as "tragic".
"This is an extremely tragic incident and one that will send shockwaves throughout the close-knit community of Killyclogher.
"Mr Lynch had been missing and the prayers of the community were that he would be found safe and well, unfortunately, the worst outcome has been realised.
"I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mr Lynch and know that, however small the consolation, the togetherness of the Killyclogher area will lend its hand to help and support the family during this most terrible of times," she said this morning.
The 34-year-old was last seen when he left his home at Farmhill Meadows on the night of January 22.
At about 5.30pm on Tuesday evening, Rivers Agency staff assisting in the search spotted the body submerged in the Camowen River at Killyclogher Road.
The PSNI said that a post mortem examination will be carried out.
