Teenager in court over rock throwing incident
A teenager has appeared before a court in Belfast in connection with a serious traffic incident on the M2 at the weekend.
The 15-year-old was charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm following an incident in which a woman's car was hit with a large rock.
Appearing in court on Thursday February 14 the youth was remanded in custody and told to appear next month at the youth court.
However, the magistrate ordered him to remain indoors from 8pm to 7am. He also ordered him to stay off the Hightown Road and to report to the police every Friday and Saturday evening.
The woman's car had been hit by a rock thrown from a bridge over the motorway near Glengormley on the outskirts of Belfast.
The 56-year-old woman, a midwife, is in a stable condition in hospital. The rock smashed through the windscreen of her Volkswagen Golf car, hitting her on the shoulder. The car slammed into the central reservation before coming to a halt by the side of the motorway.
