Balmoral Show expect good NI representation

Companies from Antrim and Down will be well represented as businesses from across Northern Ireland register as exhibitors at this year’s Balmoral Show set to take place between May 15 –17.

Although companies from Tyrone, Londonderry, Armagh and Fermanagh will be represented at the Show, Antrim and Down have established a clear lead with more than 50 companies from the two counties already confirming their attendance at the 2002 show.

Organisers say that this marks a strong return from all sectors represented at the Show following the cancellation of the 2001 event due to last year's FMD outbreak.

Royal Ulster Agricultural Society commercial director, Philip Rees said: “Naturally, we see strong representation from traditional agricultural companies at Balmoral but there is strong growth in non-agri representation as consumers demand more variety from the show experience.

“The various specialist and consumer areas at the showgrounds provide an excellent shop window for all manner of goods and services, and offers exhibitors the chance of face to face contact with almost 60,000 consumers over three days.”

Last year's Balmoral Show was cancelled because of the outbreak of foot-and-mouth, however this year's Show is expected to be a bumper year with organiser's gearing up for a crowd of over 40,000 at the three-day event.

A prize fund of over £80,000 will also be up for grabs for participants of this year's show.
