Road accident leaves one man dead and two injured
An accident on the Portaferry Road near Newtownards has left a 20-year old man dead and two others in hospital.
One of the injured has been taken into intensive care at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, while the other is stable at Dundonald's Ulster Hospital. None of those involved in the accident had been named on Friday afternoon.
The accident took place at around 10.30pm on Tuesday February 19 between Finlay's Road and Mountstewart Road and left the area closed until 12pm on Wednesday.
Despite initial reports that two vehicles were involved it has now been confirmed that the accident involved a single car, a Renault Megane.
The cause of the accident is not yet known, but Newtownards police have appealed for anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact them on: 028 9181 8080.

A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Armagh. It is believed the man was crushed by a road roller while a new road surface was being laid on the Bog Road, Forkhill, on Wednesday, 31 May. Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation.

Body Of Missing Man Discovered In Lake
The body of missing Crossmaglen man Padraig Campbell has been found. The 37-year-old’s body was recovered from a lake in Co Monaghon last night. Campbell, of Drumbroy Road, Castleblaney, has been missing from the 18 March. Gardai have described his death as a tragic accident, however a post-mortem will be carried out.

One injured in road crash in Newry
One person has been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision on the Rathfriland Road, Newry. The victim is believed to be have suspected concussion and facial injuries. The accident occurred at around 7.30am this morning. The incident involved two vehicles, and the road was closed in both directions.
