Search recruitment solutions business continues to grow
The UK's fastest-growing total recruitment solutions business, Scotland-based Search Consultancy has reported a continued increase in turnover following the rollout of its recruitment model across the UK.
Search launched a major UK expansion of its successful recruitment model following a management buy-out/buy-in on February 14, led by new chief executive Grahame Caswell and backed by investment from venture capital specialist 3i.
In the last year, Search's turnover increased by 27 per cent to in excess of £55m, staffing grew to around 300, and new offices have been opened in Manchester, Crawley, Dundee and Leicester.
Search has also added three new industry-specific recruitment divisions in 2001, servicing the pharmaceutical, insurance and hospitality and catering sectors - bringing the total to 14 specialist divisions.
During 2001, Search won key contracts with the Army in Scotland for a 'world first' recruitment trial, and a number of significant contracts with other major employers across the UK.
A number of FTSE 250 companies now use Search's services, and the company has further stretched its lead as Scotland's leading independent recruitment business.
Placing tens of thousands of people in permanent and temporary jobs every year, Search operates a network of recruitment websites under their main website at www.search.co.uk .
The company was recently included in The PriceWaterhouseCoopers 2001 'Profit Track 100' survey, which charts the UK's Top 100 fastest growing private companies.

Internet recruitment effectiveness doubles, says report
The effectiveness of the Internet in the recruitment process has doubled since 2000, according to research commissioned by recruitment group Reed. The research showed that more than two thirds of HR commentators (72%) now feel that the Internet is an effective recruitment medium, compared to 42% in 2000.

The annual recruitment industry survey, produced for the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), has shown that despite overall growth in the recruitment industry, the last year was a tough one for the sector. The survey found that total recruitment industry sales grew by 5.9%, the number of staff employed in the industry had declined by 7.
