Charges Follow Deadly Wexford Assault

Three men have been charged in connection with the death of a man after an assault in Co Wexford at the weekend.

James Doyle, 40, and father-of-three was attacked in the Gorey area of Wexford in the early hours of Saturday morning and received serious head injuries.

He was transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where he died this afternoon.

The three men have now been charged in connection with the incident were brought to Wexford District Court yesterday evening and were charged with intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Mr Doyle.

All three also face another charge in relation to an assault on Neil Doyle, 26, on the same night in the town.

The three who were before the court this evening were 18-year-old Mantis Kriksciunas, Roman Muhins, 19, and Artus Janovskis, 23.

Two of the men are from Latvia and one is from Lithuania. All three have been living in Gorey for some time.

Bail applications were made for the three men but were refused by Judge Donnchadh O'Buachalla.

They were remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court in Dublin next Friday.

Gardaí say it is believed that at least a number of those people involved had attended the 'Mezz Nightclub' at Pearse St, Gorey including the injured parties.
