Teenager stabbed at shopping complex in north Belfast

The mother of a Belfast teenager who was stabbed in an incident in the north of the city has said her son is lucky to be alive.

Anthony Reid, 19, was leaving the Yorkgate Centre with a friend when they were confronted by four youths shortly after 3pm on Monday March 4.

He has a collapsed lung however his condition is described as stable.

Donna Reid said her son was fortunate to have survived the attack.

The Yorkgate complex is on the interface between the nationalist New Lodge and loyalist Tigers Bay.

Four teenagers believed to be involved in the incident made off in the direction of Canning Street in the Tigers Bay area.

The police have appealed for information about the attack.

Michaella McCollum's Solicitor Flies To Peru
The solicitor of Michaella McCollum, a 20-year-old Dungannon woman currently being held in Peru on suspicion of drug trafficking, is to fly to Lima to advise her. The 20-year-old County Tyrone native was arrested last week at Jorge Chavez International Airport as she tried to board a flight to Madrid with 19-year-old Melissa Reid, from Scotland.

Peru Suspects In Kidnap Claim
A woman from Dungannon, County Tyrone and a woman from Scotland currently facing drugs smuggling charges in Peru have claimed they were forced at gunpoint to carry £1.5m of cocaine in their luggage. 20-year-old Michaella McCollum Connolly and 19-year-old Melissa Reid were arrested last week before boarding a plane from Lima to Spain.

Mother and two sons attacked at home
A mother and her two sons have been attacked at their house in Co Antrim on Thursday. Two masked men attacked the 46-year-old woman and her sons outside their Moss Side Gardens home, near Ballymoney, at about 11pm.

Reid pressed on dismissal of two Scots Guards
The mother of a teenager who was shot dead by two soldiers is to ask the Secretary of State to intervene in the campaign to have them dismissed from the British Army. Peter McBride, 18, a father-of-two, was shot in the back as he ran away from a military patrol in north Belfast.
