Autumn Welcomed At Castle Archdale

A top Co Fermanagh lakeland attraction is going all autumnal.

Castle Archdale Country Park is set to welcome the autumn with a celebration for all the family.

This Saturday, 24th October, a variety of activities related to colours, tastes and aromas of the season will take place at the top outdoor attraction - from 10am to 4pm.

Paying tribute to Mother Nature, a tree sculptor will create works of art next to the fallen branches and logs. Meanwhile, all the guests - with free admission - will be able to enjoy live jazz music or the inter-active trails through the woodland areas around the estate, as previewed here by Fay Cairnduff, (picture by Phil Smyth).

There will also be some demonstrations of unique Ulster skills, such as willow weaving, butter churning and loom weaving.

There will also be workshops about arts and crafts in pine cone art and leaf rubbing will be offer to children and adults.

A fun day is assured with the traditional folk theatre from Armagh Rhymers and actors from 'Prickly Tales' also performing.

The Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA), owners and managers of the lakeside estate, organised the event.

Conaire McNeary, from the NIEA, said they are responsible for protecting, conserving and promoting the natural environment of the country.

"This event will help to show the beauty and importance of nature and the season of Autumn in the natural surroundings of Castle Archdale," she added.

This beautiful country park extends to cover 230 acres along the shores of Lower Lough Erne, with many nature trails, woodlands and also lough side walks: a perfect place to set a celebration like that.

McNeary concluded by inviting families and adults to come to the celebrations to enjoy a fun-filled day out.
