Belfast hotel guest wins £1000 prize

A guest who checked into Belfast's Holiday Inn has won £1000.

The astonished guest found a £1000 voucher underneath his pillow towards the end of his stay at the hotel. The voucher was part of a Holiday Inn promotion whereby hotels across the UK are offering prizes to guests over the next 12 weeks.

Mike Nieszcur had been staying at the hotel for a week when he found the £1000 voucher under his pillow on the March 7th.

Mr Nieszcur, one of North Americas leading ice-hockey goalie helmet artists, was in the city visiting the Belfast Giants hockey team.

He said: "I couldn't believe it when I plumped up my pillow and discovered I had won £1000. The main reason for my trip was to offer my services to the net minders of the Seconda Ice Hockey League and this lucky strike makes this trip all the more worthwhile."

Housekeeper's for the hotel chain will place a £1000 voucher under the pillow of one UK guest each night – Monday to Thursday – until May 9.

Guests staying at the Holiday Inn chain will win a selection of prizes during the promotion. The chain are offering 900 million priority club worldwide points which are redeemable against prizes such as a nights stay at over 3200 hotels worldwide.

Adrian McLaughlin, General Manager, said: "It is excellent that someone from our hotel has won. Since the promotion has started we have noticed everyone being nice to our Housekeeper and we now call her the magic toothfairy."
