Legendary Watchmaker Clocks-In
World renowned Swiss watch maker Kurt Klaus is visiting Belfast today.
As well as holding a series of watch making workshops for a select number of local collectors and aficionados, the watching making legend will also showcase the exclusive new range of Aquatimer watches.
Peter Lunn, Managing Director of Lunns, said: "Naturally we are delighted to have Kurt with us in Belfast today.
"He truly is a giant in the watch making world and his professionalism is reflected in the stunning new range of Aquatimer watches that we currently have exclusively available in our Queens Arcade store.
"It's wonderful that some of our clients are getting the chance to meet Kurt and to see first hand the truly skillful art of watch making which so many of us take for granted."
Fondly known as the "Einstein from Schaffhausen", Kurt (pictured) has been working with International Watch Company for 50 years in which time he is best known as the watchmaker who invented the Da Vinci revolutionary perpetual calendar module in 1985 – this mechanical watch revolutionised the watch industry and featured a programmed perpetual calendar that would record an accurate count of the days in the year up to 2500.
The launch of the Aquatimer range coincides with a new partnership that the IWC has initiated in support of environmental and marine conservation, the Charles Darwin foundation in Galapagos.
One of the new models, the Aquatimer Chronograph Edition Galapagos Islands is dedicated specifically to this commitment.
