PEI selects AutoManager Meridian document system

PEI Technologies, Ireland's national programme in advanced technology in electronics, has purchased AutoManager Meridian from cadcoevolution to allow document sharing across its six locations in Ireland.

Established in 1991 to provide access to advanced technology in electronics to Irish based clients, PEI now delivers a variety of services to its national and international client base from control and signal processing and lighting control through to product auditing and technology strategy. Its six centres, five of which are based at Irish universities, each focus on a different core discipline but work together on projects communicating constantly.

With an extensive knowledge of electronic document management systems, cadcoevolution advised PEI in its purchase of Meridian, recommending the product because of its ability to search for, share and deliver information across the Internet. PEI's priority was to enable each of its different centres to access project details simultaneously and on demand, and to deliver information remotely to its teleworkers and to clients.

Meridian was installed by cadcoevolution on PEI's central server at Galway University, providing each of the other locations with licenses to access the information stored as and when they need to.

Joe Madden, Program Director at PEI Technologies, said: "We have a very practical approach to the work we carry out, and regular interaction is carried out between our different centres and with our clients during all phases of the project. Meridian allows us to have constant access to documents relating to the project, regardless of the centre that originally produced them, and it automatically serves and dates the amendments as the project progresses."

cadcoevolution is about to upgrade the system with the latest version of AM Meridian 2002 which will allow PEI to take advantage of the product's workflow features whilst still allowing it to be used across the Web.

"The installation was very smooth," continued Joe Madden. "Meridian is very user friendly, and makes information extremely accessible. We have been impressed with it so far because it delivers exactly what we need."

Brendan Greene, cadcoevolution's senior EDM consultant, said: "When we discussed PEI's requirements there was only one product that we could say would fulfil these 100%, and that was AM Meridian. We have been impressed by the technology and the direction the product has been moving in, and we are now investing a great deal of time and energy in bringing this product to market in Northern Ireland."
