Teenager Killed Over Gold Chain, Jury Hears
The jury at the trial of a teenager charged with the murder of a youth worker has been told that the killing was an act of retaliation.
The 17-year-old accused - who cannot be named for legal reasons - said that the victim, Nathan Foster, 18, had stolen his gold chain.
Mr Foster was found with six bullet wounds in Marcus Garvey Way, near Brixton Tube station last August. He was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.
Leading the prosecution, Michael Shorrock QC said that the shooting had been in revenge for an earlier incident when the defendant's chain had been pulled from his neck by another youth named Kori Bell.
He told the jury that the defendant thought that Nathan Foster had been involved.
Mr Shorrock said that the act was a "cold-blooded, premeditated act of revenge".
It is reported that one bullet went through Mr Foster's heart and the rest went into his back as he tried to run away.
