A TRADITIONAL, FAMILY-RUN HARDWARE STORE
It all started with Andy Kinnear. Demobbed from the army at the end of World War Two, he set about making a living for himself and his family by buying a van and delivering hardware items to local farms, builders and businesses. It went well. Andy worked hard and built up a loyal core of customers, but ever the businessman, in 1962 he spotted a property for sale on the Monkstown Road in Newtownabbey. He bought it and Andy’s Hardware Store was born.

Over the past 50-odd years, our business has grown, diversified and expanded. But some things remain unchanged. For a start, we are still a family owned and run concern – in fact, Andy’s grandsons are now involved in the business. And our delivery service still underpins everything we do – if you can’t take it with you, we’ll deliver it for you. Plus of course, we’re a local Newtownabbey family, with our roots firmly grounded in our local community.

Today we all live in a busy world, so our aim is to make the process of buying whatever you need as convenient and friendly as possible, whether it’s Hardware, Building materials, Electrical, Plumbing, Timber, Gardening, Home fuel, Multi-fuel stoves, Household items or Appliances. We have almost everything that you could need for your building trade or your home. If you can think of anything you would like us to provide, please let us know

Our home and office removals division, A. Kinnear & Sons, operates at the speciality end of the removal business, making sure that your office effects or household goods are carefully packed, stored at our secure, heated facilities (if required), then delivered straight to your desired destination locally, nationally or globally.

Over many years, our removals team has accumulated a deep knowledge of national and global transport systems, together with a world-wide network of contacts and partners. We apply this knowledge in order to ensure that your items go where you want, and arrive when you want.
