Co-Ownership Applicants Queue-up
Eager 'wanabee' homeowners have queued overnight in Belfast to submit their applications for a limited offer co-ownership scheme.
Around two dozen people sat outside the Co-Ownership office in a bid to secure one of this month's limited number of 55 spaces. It is believed the line began to snake as early as Wednesday afternoon, a sign that buyers are very much back in the market.
More houses now fall under the remit of Co-Ownership's £175,000 cap, following continued falls in property prices.
It is estimated around 30% has been wiped off the value of homes since 2007.
Some of those queuing said they had been trawling the market for weeks and months in order to get a sale agreed.
One first-time buyer said: "I need to get an application accepted so I can buy my three-bedroom house. If not I will lose the £500 holding fee I've paid."
Several of those queuing said they were leaving rented accommodation, as it now seemed better value to buy through the co-ownership scheme.

Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast
Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.

DAERA Minister Confirms Commitment to Deposit Return Scheme
DAERA Minister Andrew Muir has reaffirmed his commitment to introducing a Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) in Northern Ireland. The DRS is designed to encourage recycling by offering a monetary incentive for returning single-use drinks containers. The scheme will cover PET plastic, steel, and aluminium containers ranging from 150ml to 3 litres.

£3.25m Scheme To Help First Time Buyers
A new scheme worth over three million pounds has been launched to help first time buyers get their foot on the property ladder and in turn boost the construction sector. NI Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland has announced the FirstBuyNI pilot scheme aimed at helping new and returning homebuyers to buy new build homes.

Northern Ireland is to pilot a re-emerged 50% mortgage scheme, designed to give first-time buyers a much-needed leg-up onto, the now elusive, property market. The Province will be the first part of the UK to implement the trial scheme, which will see developers and housing authorities stump-up half the value of a home.

A metaphorical 'tightly-bolted door' that is keeping many first-time house buyers out of the market, could be about to be unlocked, through a new bank-led initiative. Ulster Bank has joined forces with property developers from across Northern Ireland to support hard-pressed first-time buyers onto the property ladder.
