Post Office Seek NI Advert Cast Members
Budding worldwide web 'screen stars' from across Northern Ireland are being offered the opportunity to win a part in the next Post Office advertisement, this time being produced for the Internet.
Post Office claims this is the largest ever, online casting call.
Following the success of the last advert for Post Office Broadband, which featured Ken the Postmaster (Early Doors actor, John Henshaw) and top band Westlife, the Post Office has launched a competition on Postmaster Ken’s MySpace page (www.myspace.com/postofficeken) where would be TV stars can win a place in front of the camera.
Many famous people started their rise to fame in adverts including Patsy Kensit (Bird's Eye peas), Nick Kamen (Levis), Jonathan Ross (Rice Krispies and Persil), Amanda Lamb (Scottish Widows), Howard Brown (Halifax) and Sharon Maughan and Anthony Head (Gold Blend).
Post Office Head of Broadband Stewart Fox-Mills said: "We've had a great response to the TV ad featuring Postmaster Ken and would like to give customers in Northern Ireland the opportunity to appear on national TV in the new ad to be screened later this year.
"We're already had entries from thousands of people from all walks of life who’d like to find out more about Post Office broadband direct from Ken and his team," he said.
Paul de Freitas of the Casting Directors' Guild said: "Getting a part in a TV ad for a national institution like the Post Office is a truly fabulous way of getting that first foot on the fame ladder.
"From 'Friends' star Matt Le Blanc to Hollywood actress Jodie Foster, many of today’s top personalities have turned the commercial break into their big break."

£20m cash boost for rural post offices announced
Rural post offices in Northern Ireland are set to receive more than £6.9 million-a-year for the next three years, in the largest ever government support package for this vital community service. The money is part of a £450 million national fund to safeguard the future of thousands of rural post offices, which was unveiled by the government today.

Post Office staff to stage walkout
Further postal strikes will continue today with the expected half-day strike of counter staff at nine post offices. The nine post offices affected are in Newtownards, Bangor, Antrim, Coleraine, Londonderry, Lisburn and two in Belfast. The walkout will be the fifth in a continuing dispute over pay and conditions and will begin at 2.30pm.
