Vehicle Hijacked In Whiterock By Armed Duo

Two men, armed with improvised weapons, have hijacked a car in the Whiterock area of Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning. Police in West Belfast said they are appealing for information into the incident, which occurred shortly after 02:40am. It was reported that two men with one armed with a screwdriver were picked up in the Sloan Street area of Lisburn. The men were then taken to the Whiterock Road area and threatened the driver. A sum of cash, watch, wallet and phone were also taken during the incident. The driver was left badly shaken during the incident, but was left unharmed. The hijacked vehicle was recovered in the Rosgoill Park area, a short time later. Anyone who has any information is asked to contact police at Grosvenor Road on 0845 600 8000. Shots fired at Ardilea Street in north Belfast

A man is being treated for shock after shots were fired at a house in north Belfast. The man said he heard a loud bang at the house in Ardilea Street at about 11.15 on Wednesday. Police found an impact point from a bullet on a front window frame at the house. They have appealed to anyone with information about the shooting to contact them.

South Belfast Urged For Vigilance against burglars

SDLP South Belfast MP Dr Alasdair McDonnell has warned residents of South Belfast to be extra vigilant after two elderly women were targeted by burglars posing as window cleaners. Dr. McDonnell said: “The fact that two vulnerable, elderly ladies were targeted in separate burglaries on the same day and in close proximity is a cause of grave concern. Two despicable men have used the good reputation of window cleaners to gain entry into the homes of these vulnerable women to rob them. My thoughts are with these two ladies. They have been through a terrible ordeal." Mr McDonell urged senior residents to be extremely cautious about allowing strangers into their homes. "If you don’t know someone, don’t let them in. If a representative of a utility company comes to your door, always ask for ID and always phone the company to check. I would urge anyone with information about these robberies, no matter how insignificant they think it is, to all contact the police."
