Winter Storm Blows Across NI
High winds, driving rain and even snow have heralded the start of NI's winter - with motorists being urged to drive with caution on Monday morning after extreme weather overnight.
The Roads Service is warning of a risk of ice on roads in the west of the region and said it dealt with 49 fallen trees.
The Glenshane Pass - which was affected by snow - was treated on Sunday night and was today clear of snow but there were also 22 incidents of flooding on roads overnight.
The roads closed due to flooding were the Castletown Road (Ballynure) and Shore Road (Ballyhalbert).
The roads closed due to fallen trees were the A2 Kilkeel to Newcastle Road at Bloody Bridge, Ballyloan Road (Downpatrick), Slievegrane Road (Downpatrick), Ardigon Road (Downpatrick), Ardkill Road (Londonderry) and Hollyhall Road (Derry).
It is understood the Foyle Bridge in Derry is closed to high-sided vehicles.
Salting has taken place on high ground routes considered to be at risk in the Londonderry, Limavady and mid-Ulster areas.
Motorists are being advised to exercise caution when travelling, not only due to the risk of ice on some roads, but also due to the possibility of debris on roads from the overnight storms.

Winter Wonderland To Return
As national weather forecasters said that the North and West of the UK would be worst hit by another spell of freezing temperatures - snow showers are expected to return to NI later today. With several centimetres of snow predicted to fall in some places, forecasters said the renewed Arctic blast could last into the middle of next week.

A record £80 million will be spent on structural roads maintenance this year across Northern Ireland. The figure was revealed by Deputy Divisional Roads Manager, Tom McCourt as he presented DRD Roads Service’s autumn report to Newtownabbey Borough Council. Mr McCourt said: "This is a huge increase in investment over previous years.
