Protesters On Crane In Parliament Square
Two protesters have scaled a crane in Parliament Square to protest against the proposed EU Treaty.
The two male activists climbed onto the crane, which is in place for renovations in Middlesex Guildhall, shortly after 2am on Monday morning.
They unfurled banners reading "Referendum Now" and "Give Us Our Vote".
Police have been called to the scene and are talking to the protesters.
The protest comes two days before MPs are due to vote on a Conservative amendment to the EU Treaty Bill, which calls for a referendum on the issue.
A report at the weekend also suggested that most Britons were in favour of a referendum on the document, which is also known as the Lisbon Treaty.
Campaign group I Want A Referendum organised a mini-ballot, which saw more than 150,000 people in 10 constituencies vote on the issue, with around 88% voting in favour of a referendum.
However, it has been a reported that a spokesperson for the group said that it was not behind this morning's protest.
Last week, there were two other protests - one at Heathrow Airport and one on the roof of Parliament, in protest at a planned expansion at Heathrow.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has cleared the first hurdle of the controversial EU reform treaty despite a minor dispute by the Liberal Democrats to attempt to block the Tories to force a referendum. Asked if the Lib Dems would allow the Commons to vote through a referendum by abstaining, he replied: "I certainly hope not. No".

Scottish Voters Reminded Of Referendum Vote Registration Deadline
Residents of Scotland, who wish to vote in the 19 September Scottish Independence referendum, have until midnight on Tuesday to register. Campaigners both for and against independence have urged people to register to vote before tomorrow's deadline. It is understood that 4.1 million people have already registered to vote.

100 Days Until Scottish Independence Referendum
Campaigners have marked the 100 days milestone until the 18 September, when the Scottish independence referendum will take place. Currently, opinion polls are suggesting a victory for the pro-Union vote, but First Minister Alex Salmon has said there is still enough time for the "Yes" campaign to close the gap on opponents.

Defence Secretary Accused Of Spreading 'Myths And Misinformation'
A vote for Scottish independence would put defence jobs at risk, the Defence Secretary Philip Hammond has said. The secretary has told defence workers in Glasgow that the UK's shared defence force "provided benefits of scale". However, SNP defence spokesman Angus Robertson accused Mr Hammond of spreading "myths and misinformation".
